Description:
I got the call at 7:30 in the morning. There wasn’t much time. No time to think about what to pack, what to leave behind, how to feel. I grabbed what was in front of me and ran to the airport.
I was in charge of the front desk with my cousin. We greeted the people coming in, most of them strangers to me but they were all people that knew him. I did what I could, tidy up the shoes in the walkway, politely bow and stay hidden.
There was a calmness that washed over me on the last day. When we arrived to the hill place the sun came out of the clouds. It’s rays waving down on us as we laid you to rest.
On the way to the airport I looked out the window to see something I had never seen before. A small island that had lush green trees with red soil. As the sun slowly rose the red became more vibrant and sky started to brighten.
